Back in 1987, young Daniel Ruth was recruited by a prominent Canadian family business, just as they were launching Dynacare: a large venture that set out to build retirement communities across Canada.
Although barely starting his career, Daniel shared his idea of adding a branch so that the business could staff it’s own facilities. Daniel received the green light from the patriarch to move forward with the project. The staffing agency was an immediate success: it’s revenue grew quickly and the entity broke even within 9 months.
With the pressure on and closely managed, Daniel had to learn the business as fast as possible. He offered a prominent Director of Nursing an opportunity to join Dynacare.
“Grace taught me the nursing business inside and out; her presence was worth every penny. Soon enough the business was generating annual revenue of $75M per year.”
Daniel found opportunities for mergers, acquisitions and partnerships throughout Ontario and the rest of Canada, including working with the government on providing state-funded home-care.
They advertised in playfully creative ways, and their billboards caught attention all over the nation and even won awards.

Eventually the company merged with the largest nursing personnel agency in Canada, and Daniel moved on to CAPS, where he was asked to repeat the pattern of success. In order to grow their home-care and nurse-training company, he started new offices and made acquisitions.
Attentive to the market, Daniel noticed the trend of people choosing to receive end-of-life care at home, so he reached out to home-care providers and established partnerships right before they experienced a surge of business activity.
Under his direction, CAPS became such a notable success that once again, it was purchased by one of the largest competitors in the USA: the Medical Personnel Pool.
After growing two companies from one to 15 offices, each within a couple of years, Daniel Ruth was ready for the next step of his career: working in faith-based, non-profit nursing homes, where he had always aspired to contribute.
